THE DEVELOPMENT OF MADRASAH DINIYAH IN INDONESIA

Abstract

Based on the result of research and discussion, it can be summarized as follows: First, from the aspect of developmental history, Madrasah Diniyah grows and evolves together with Islamic development in the country. The history of Madrasah Diniyah in Indonesia includes: (1) growth phase, characterized by the commencement of classical education model with tiered curriculum in Pesantren and Surau (or mosque); (2) develompental phase, characterized by the spreading of Madrasah Diniyah to various corners of the country along with Islamic development; (3) transition period phase, a phase in which similar educational instituions grow, namely Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, Madrasah Tsanawiyah, and Madrasah Aliyah, which do not only include Islamic lessons, but also general science curriculum.
